    sorry if this has been covered before BUT I am struggling to find any information.

    I know how to change a filter ( seen link for octavia) but I hate cranking the car over and over for it too bleed. I am dreading burning the starter out. So does anyone know how to bleed the car?

    Is it a V6 or 4 cyl diesel ?

    Not that it makes much difference.

    There are several options;

    1, Crank it over

    2, Prime the fuel filter with fuel by pouring it in via the fuel stat opening.

    3, Disconnect the outbound fuel line from the filter and draw fuel through with a vacuum pump.

    2 & 3 will still need some cranking though.

    I've done a few filters on my PD engined VW's and must say I've only had to crank over for a maximum of 10 seconds.

    Just fill the filter with diesel when you fit it.
    It will run straight away.

    cheers guys......... so much for a complicated system as in owners manual book.

    I was expecting 2 or 3 bleed nipples to be done in sequence
