Has anyone driven the S4 manual and s tronic? How nippy off the lights is the s tronic (without bothering to engage launch control, if it even exists...)?

    Cheers

Very quick! Not the boy racer type so have nothing to compare with yet. Would be interested if there is launch control, although I can't imagine it would go any quicker! I just switch drive select to dynamic, hold on to the steering when and take off! Traction is excellent. Just wish there was more noise (drove an S5 and that made a spectacular noise).

Can only talk to the stronic - it seems plenty fast to me.

At some point in 2010 onwards (May?) they made launch control available. That is scary fast but a bit of a faff at the lights.
Finally on the drive: S4 Avant S Tronic, Quartz Grey, toys

...have a poke around on youtube - there are lots of videos showing S4's doing 0-60 with/without launch control etc.

You'd have to know the timing of the traffic lights pretty well to use the launch control there, or sit around holding it doing 3000rpm for far too long!

I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had it on an A4, I thought it was exclusive to the S4

ADS to dynamic, ESP off, left foot on brake, kickdown accelerator to get 3000rpm, release brake ...

Various instructions make it out to be more complicated (maybe you do need to put gearbox into "M" if you can't go into "S" using ADS), some also claim you have to press and hold ESP for several seconds, or turn the engine off/on immediately before.
