I've searched the web and forums, but to no avail. The problem I have is that all the courtesy lights, reading lights work ok when you switch them on manually, but done come on when you open any of the doors. In my mind it rules out fuses, bulbs etc. So any idea on possible causes, any help would be much appreciated.

    I have a 2005 2.0 TDI SE (new shape)

    Many Thanks Rob

You do have the switch in the centre position don't you?

Sadly I do, if only it were that simple. But thanks for the quick response.

Doesn't help you, but with a Rover I had, I remember going back to the dealership and having a proper go as the rear interior light wasn't coming on - they went out and pressed the switch to the right position.

I was sure I checked it and apologised profulsely as I clearly looked like a proper tool....

Again, sorry it doesn't help you, but I thought I'd share that with you...

Thanks James, I have myself had similar experiences and ended up looking like a tool, but in this instance at least I have checked and the switch is set to auto. Not something I've ever bothered moving until I had the problem and started fidling with the buttons to fix it.

I wonder if you have the dreaded ccm failure due to a blocked buckhead drain.
Check the pax footwell for damp..
A scan with vagcom would help....

    Hi Kite,

What is the CCM? Is water ingress a commom fault with the B6, if so where are the most common failure points?

    Many thanks,

    Alan

Central Convenience Module, It under the pax seat.
Water gets into the car through the pollen filter due to blocked drains.
Check the pax foowell for damp.
Get the car scanned for faults, if you look in the vagcom section you may find a member in your area.
