Does anyone know a good independent VAG garage in the Leeds/Bradford/Halifax area. I live in Leeds and work in Elland near Halifax so there or between is good.

I had it serviced when I bought it (07 plate had it about 8 months) at JCT600 in Bradford but they seem expensive (VW dealer) and annoyed me by charging £80 just to look at something.

    Thanks.

JCT wanted to charge me the fee to look at it which I paid then when they couldn't find the problem and said could I take it back and drive with someone in the car they wanted me to pay again. That was despite telling me at first that I wouldn't have to pay again.

To look at a vehicle, is to perform a diagnostic - I find it unlikely that a main dealer would charge for an inconclusive diagnostic - why? Because I've used them myself and not many main dealers will perform a diagnostic check without finding a reason for the fault.

I'm not going to get into an disagreement over it, but beware that regardless of where you take the vehicle, I've yet to come across a garage that will 'look' at a car for free. Time is money in this industry.

I've had my Mk2 TT serviced at IVS in Huddersfield for the last couple of years. It's only a small operation but the the guy who owns/runs it knows his stuff and they only use OEM VAG parts, and they're a decent amount cheaper than the main dealers.

I use Hare Motors in Halifax ( http://haremotors.co.uk/ ), they specialise in German cars, used them for my M3, current S4 & Polo and also the W12 Audi I had. Always done a good job and charge a fair price and will do diagnostics from £35.
