Hi everyone I have just got a new problem with the golf its a 99 1.6 akl engine just went for an mot everything was fine apart from the emissions they were really high the tester said appaling anyway replaced the lambda sensor and the cat still no change engine appears to be fine no smoke head gasket is fine engine drives fine does anyone hve any ideas thnks carl.

So you fitted a new cat and lambda sensor but did not do a code read? More than likely your Air Mass Meter has failed.

Hi thanks for getting back to me I did replace first yeah but to be honest the system was getting dodgy so thought id treat it I have had it years on 166000 so doing well I will try the maf any easy way og testing

The easiest way to test the AMM is to replace it with a genuine VW dealer sourced exchange part, do not buy one from anywhere else.
