When I bought my car, the salesman kindly set up the Bluetooth connection for my phone and for the last 18 months everything's been fine.

I've just bought a new phone and after following the handbook instructions (search for phone from MMI) it connected OK. There's only one problem though - when I receive a call, the phone rings and the in-car ring tone remains silent. When I revert to my original phone, it too rings and the in-car ring tone also remains silent.

I've done the obvious things like setting the MMI ring tone volume in the Telephone Set Up menu but still no luck.

Does anyone know if there's another setting that I've missed.

    Suggestions gratefully appreciated.

It's a Nokia X2-00. The previous one is a Nokia 6230i. Both phones appear to connect in "handsfree" mode. There was no option for "remote sim" mode although both phones support this mode.

Hmm my old Nokia 6020 connected automatically in remote sim mode and displayed 'Remote sim mode' on the screen and wouldnt allow any use of the phone itself. Ill go out and pair it again and get it into remote sim mode and i'll tell you how to do it

That sounds like my phone used to work - the car seemed to take it over. I guess there's an option somewhere to get it into "remote sim" mode. Thanks in advance if you can find where it is.

Just reconnected my old nokia there and it went to remote sim straight away. Try deleting the phone from the car and the car from the phone and reconnect from the car.

Thanks for trying that. Deleted both and when reconnected the only option the car gave me was "handsfree". Do you know if there's a "remote sim" setting in the phone - I've looked but can't see one.

I looked also, I'll go out again and try connecting from the phone and not from the car.

Edit - tried that, it connected in handsfree mode this time. I know when I first connected my iPhone to the MMI it kept connecting in handsfree but I eventually got it in remote sim.

Also, just googled your phone and it does indeed support rSAP. There should be a option when you press TEL to default settings for the phone . Try pressing that and reconnect and see.
