Can anyone help, does this sound like a head gasket about to go,
I have a mk 3 GTI, which now i have replaced the coolant expansion tank cap, it gets to pressure now i seem to see water coming out from what i assume to be the head gasket area only a very little though, i have no loss of power, no water in my oil and no gunk in the filler cap, the car runs absolutely fine, apart from i never seem to have my fan cut in, could this possibly be something else or am i facing head gasket replacement????? any advice more than welcome
    cheers

    Chris

Have u tried changing your thormostat. mabye its over heating because the coolent isint leaving the engine because of the thormostat not opening properly. This might be why the fan does not kick because the coolants not reaching the rad. also fella if you fit a new thormostat make sure its in the right way round....
