Hi guys.
I can now let you in on the agreement I had with Audi UK. They have given me a refund equivalent to the cost of the MMI High option. Plus some compensation for other issues not covered here.
I spoke to them yesterday and asked why others got different treatment. I was told it depends on the complaint manager's discretion and the individual circumstances. My original complaint manager was very much telling me to get lost, but I managed to get through to her team lead. She was much more helpful.

I did raise other issues with MMI as well. For example, it is slow to start up. You need to disable Bluetooth Audio if you also want to plug in your iPhone using the cable. The car does not remember that it was previously set to dynamic mode (on an auto) etc etc. I also raised the complaint quite soon after collecting the vehicle, so possibly that was a factor.

Audi tried to tell me that what I needed was dual SIM. When I forwarded information from the major networks stating they could not supply these any more, Audi threw in the towel and started talking about compensation.

I have come to the realisation that it is unlikely Audi will ever fix this issue for existing vehicles. No amount of moaning by us is going to change that. However, a grand and a half in your back pocket may go some way to compensating you.

For now, I have worked around the issue by diverting my iPhone to the car on no answer, and my car to my iPhone's voicemail on no answer or busy. It sort of works, if the caller is patient!

According to this, Paul O'Brien is the National Fleet Sales Manager, so probably not a lot of good to most of us.

I think the audiforums.us "fix" only allows the iphone to be used as an Address Book, not a handsfree phone. Thats if you are refering to A8 Tech's reponse to MFGF's query.

address book profile does actually give more than just address book but the wording could easily be confused as address book profile doesnt technically exist

What problem are you guys having? I have a data sim in my A6 and my iPhone (with a separate voice sim) connected via bluetooth and have no problems using both simultaneously. What issue are you guys having?? (I have a 2012 A6 with audi connect, I have two services, a data only in the a6 and a voice in my iphone) I am connected via bluetooth, on the car's wifi and use google earth all together.

i believe they have fixed it on 2012 model year cars but have said two fingers to owners of older cars.........

You seem, on the face of it, to be very lucky. The rest of us have Bluetooth cutting off when a SIM is inserted, which is also how Audi claim it works.

But then, I got a front camera from an A8, because the A6 kit was not available, so the anomalies do arise. You may just have got the American software or summat.

Sorry guys, but did nobody notice J1194 is located in Los Angeles, USA. I think we knew this works on US cars! Got me going for a minute then!
