    Hi All,

I'm thinking of installing dvd headrests (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/C1007-2x-9-LCD...item1e60d2547f) but I'm not sure how to feed the wires down the back of the leather seats. I presume I'll have to remove / loosen the leather, does anybody know how to do this?

    cheers

    Darren

I don't know how the seat comes apart, but I would get a stalk stick from a garden centre and tape the wires to it and push them though to the bottom of the seat, well actually I wouldn't I would live with the wires being exposed myself, but that's an idea for you to consider, good luck.

That doesn't look like a bad deal! I bought a rear screen to fit in between the two rear sets but haven't got round to making a bracket for it yet.

Your best bet for feeding wires is using an old coat hanger. I keep a few hanging about for everytime I decide to fit something new!

Cheers guys, some sort of pokey action is probably the best option, I just wasn't sure if I could damage something, I'll just need to take it easy. I did see some car seats have removable back panels for such reasons.

I'll check I can get down the back and if so I'll order the screens shortly, I'll probably then be asking the best way to wire them in!

Just by way of an update, I got the headrest dvd units and with the help of my wifes small hands and thin arms she was able to stick her hand up the back off the seat and grab the wires. So installation was not too bad. I found an old car power adapter and am able to jam the wires into the rear power socket so the units work. Now just looking to wire them in a bit more permanently.

Bellow the rear lighter socket is a small rectangular piece of trim. Pop it off and there is 2 screws to remove. Undo those and them pull the whole back part of the arm rest up the way and it will come off. Behind you will see the connection for the cigarete lighter. You could use that as a perminant feed for the power for both screens.

Would also love to see some photos of these headrests in to see how they look!

Cheers g-black, took your advice and slipped off the back of the arm rest. Had a good look at the wires there. I'm going to add in the cables for the dvd headrests, just need to check how the wires are going to run to the seats, think I need to remove the side panels of the arm rest and cut a small slot as where the panel meets the carpet seems quite sharp and may cut into the wires - still thinking about it.

I took a few photos and will post them soon once I do the wiring.

Would love see some photos of how well they look. Can you see the wires through the leather and is it a good colour match? I plan to feed mine from the DVD player in the front aswell so will need power and video cables fed into them.

OK - here are some quick shots of the dvd headrests, I'll take some more once I get them wired in - ran out of time the other night.

These dvd's are 9" diameter and as such the overall headrest is a bit larger than the ones that come in the passat.

The colour match with the black leather is very good

When the cables are ran down the back of the seats they can't be seen in the back of the seat at all.

Just to illustrate your instructions here are a few shots of the removal of the rear of the arm rest

close up below so you can see the two screws (one left, other right)

This shows the wires connecting the power to the battery.

I intend to cut these wires and splice in the dvd power wires, more photos to follow
