    i have an a4 b6 1.8t

i need new discs and pads all round, but not sure what to get.
iv had a price off audi just under £300 for parts (+ fitting.)

but i want an after market disc all round drilled and grooved or one or the other, just purly for looks,

think ill still go for genuine audi pads as iv heard after market ones are pretty crap until theyre very warm, and that wont suit my day to day drive...

so what discs do you recommend??
bare in mind that id like to stick to the £300 budget.

    thanks

I wouldn't go for aftermarket pads(not to sure about discs)as i've got aftermarket ones on my car and can't wait to get rid of them.everytime I brake they make a horrendous noise as if I was driving a 20 year old car.I'm sure I've read here somewhere about other people complainig about the same thing. But than again others here have them fitted with no problems whatsoever.good luck with your choice.

It's only the pads that are aftermarket.they wore fitted by the previous owner who was trying to save money probably.the discs have never been changed.the car is an a4(b7).

Please be aware of the insurance implications should you modify standard discs to fancy ones.

Bloody hell - that's the cheapest I've ever seen Audi quote for discs and pads all round! I haggled on my 1.9TDi and got them DOWN to 370 - and then got a local indie to do them for me for just over 300 using genuine parts. The parts costs are about £150 from TPS last time I looked for the TDi so yours can't be vastly different.

Personally I looked at the ATE stuff, but it wasn't hugely different in price, and the indie did a few other little things for me at the same time and didn't charge me any more. His recommendation after 20 years working with VAG was just don't bother with aftermarket unless you are playing with uprated brakes....and then if you how someone that has access to TPS the OEM parts aren't even that expensive.....

    Cheers,
    Dan.
