Hi I drive an 2002 1.9tdi avante and it is showing rust bubbles on both front wheel arches.I took it to local Audi dealer, they took photos and said they would get back to me in 4weeks. It has been 4 weeks and am now waiting for a reply. Will I be covered with the 12 year anti corrosion warranty?

I've not had direct experience of claiming under the anti corrosion waranty but I have heard of people who have had a lot of difficulty. If you don't have full Audi service histroy then forget it. They are also susposed to stamp the book when they service it to show they have inspected the paint work. Again without that you might find it hard.

Have you had the car since new? It is most unlike an Audi to rust and it sounds to me like it had some accident damage there and has been repaired badly.

Mine had rust bubbles on the roof. THe Audi dealer took photos and sent them to Audi UK. They said it wasn't a corrosion fault, but was a paint defect, which only has a 3 year warranty. As a goodwill gesture, they paid 70% of the cost to repair.

I don't think you need a full Audi service history.

On wheel arches, they'll probably need to investigate to see if there's any evidence of previous repair (they measure the paint thickness with an ultrasonic gauge). If it's previously been resprayed, then they won't cover it.

Phone them up to see if they've forgotten about you.
