You shouldn't need to remove the headlight units as there is space behind them.

You do need to remove covers over the pas reservoir and the airbox pipes though!

I think yes, but others may prove me wrong

I don't think its a tough job though, but you should get away with my method even if you have chubby meathooks like me!

The only time I would consider removing the bumper is to change the high beams, but not before a ferret around inside the wings.

To remove the headlights you need to

remove the indicators (ring pull on a spring, release and remove)

remove 2 plastic caps above the headlight to reveal 2 screws (remove them),

from the indicator aperture, there is another screw, remove it

The headlight is now loose and with a bit of wiggling, will come out of the hole.

Is this the B5.5 you are talking about?, indicators are integral with headlight.

Not without removing the bumper cover.

Weather and kit supplier permitting I am also going to fit a HID kit soon

I don't envisage taking anything more apart than:

    1) The PAS reservoir cover to get access to the back of the passenger headlight. (already done this this week to change a bulb - grrrrr). This (on my car) provides a neat space to fasten the ballast in the form of a holder for a feature my car doesn't have.

    2) The airbox ducting on the drivers side to get to the offside headlight. The ballast of which I shall attach to the inner wing with exterior grade double sided sticky pads.

Job shouldn't take any more than 90 minutes including a nice cup of coffee.

I'm just hoping I haven't left fitting a kit too late in the winter to make the most use of my extra lighting.

I thought of fitting HIDs but when I discovered they were illegal without the auto levelling kit I decided on Nightbreakers (90% more light, no hassel, still legal). How will you pass an MOT headlamp test?
