    Hi members,

I have recently bought an Audi A6 07/2004 3.2 FSI (non Quattro) from a UK dealer, and imported the car into Germany. The car has nearly 99k (miles) on the clock. I recently drove onto the German motorway with hard acceleration due to the traffic conditions, and around 6000 RPM the car experienced an unusual noise, and from that point on the gear changing is with difficulty, the engine is running uneven, and the shift lever and the clutch pedal are vibrating excessively! Has anyone had this with their car, or can anyone give me some direction with this? I have been given some serious quotes for repairs, but being Scottish, I would like to avoid this financial issue as widely as possible if anyone can offer a more economic solution!

I read a while ago about several people having this issue. A gearbox oil flushing and change fixed their problem. Check this and other Audi forums and then make your choice. An oil change will still be pretty expensive but probably cheaper than what an Audi dealer has quoted you. Did they suggest a new gearbox?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the response.

The garage quoted me a clutch replacement for €680.00, with the possible option of an additional €700.00 for a pressure plate if that needs changing!

Your suggestion about an oil change if this resolves the issue, sounds a more economic option; I will be sure to mention it to the dealership.

I have only owned the car for around 4 weeks; isn't it great when you are faced with these sort of issues inside of such a short space of time!

The Germans are pretty savage when it comes to repairs; they like to change complete components until the issue is resolved
