    Morning all

Ive got a 2006 audi A3 s line and have been looking to replace my bog standard steering wheel to a flat bottom mulit function one at a cost of around £550.

Just want to know a few questions:
    A) is it worth that money, do you guys use the features at all on the wheel?
    B) is it easy to replace, it comes with the air bag so is it a case of plug and play?
    C) I've heard on previous posts that the mode button doesn't change mode from cd to radio etc...what doe it do then?
    D) my audi has a built in sat nav so would it be best to ring audi to check my car is comparable?

    Many thanks on your opinions

    A. Hard to say, is that price for new parts or seconhand? Does it include any other parts you may need to get it working ( like slip ring or steering ecu which may be required if you haven't got multifunction already on your old wheel) you can do it cheaper by fitting it yourself

    B. It's almost plug and play. Unless you need parts mentioned above

    C. Mode switches between phone and audio if phone is fitted. Otherwise it doesn't do anything

    D. It will fit the A3. Don't waste a call to Audi, they will probably say it doesn't fit!!

This is purely the price for a second hand item on eBay. There is no mention on other items included like you mentioned steering and slip rings. Could possibly be a more technical job than envisaged.

The steering wheel was from a 2009 model too, this shouldn't make any difference either should it, although these wheels are probably fitted as standard

    Thanks

The wheel will certainly physically fit.

If your current steering wheel hasn't got multi function then you might need a new slip ring and steering ecu. You need to know the part number of these two parts, you can use VCDS to do this. Or you can strip the car down to read the part numbers on the parts. It's been done plenty of times before.

Thanks for your advice buddy. Will certainly investigate into these part numbers, any ideas of costs involved?

You'll get them for less than £100 each on eBay, little bit more from a dealer.

I was just wondering this. I am looking to buy an a3 with all the toys, but they seem to be very rare with the multi-functional steering wheel.

I see them on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A3-S3.../220925410240? but is it that easy to fit?

Don't turn the ignition on with the steering wheel removed to test, otherwise you'll throw up an Air Bag failure on the display and will need someone to reset this for you, unless you have an air bag reset tool or other control.

Hi, did you get anywhere with this. I want to do the same as you! I've bought a flat bottom multi function wheel but don't currently have the multi functionality. Did you need all of the other parts listed like the ECU and the Slip Disk?

    Thanks
