Car is a 170ps 2.0 tdi, 3 1/2yrs old, 21k miles. No noticeable symptoms just the mil light on.

Having previously received help from forum members, in return I thought I would post this account of my recent Mil illumination in the hope that it will help others searching for a solution to this issue.
    Scanned with VCDS as below....
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Address 01: Engine Labels: Redir Fail!
    Control Module Part Number: 03G 906 018 AQ HW: 03G 906 018 AQ
    Component and/or Version: R4 2.0l PPD1.3 G 9971
    Software Coding: 0000072
    Work Shop Code: WSC 00502 210 91478
    VCID: 74E391BA6E3D
    1 Faults Found:

    001137 - Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1 (G450): Implausible Signal
    P0471 - 006 - Short to Plus - Intermittent - MIL ON
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 10100001
    Fault Priority: 1
    Fault Frequency: 10
    Reset counter: 40
    Mileage: 0 km
    Time Indication: 0
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The offending sensor is fitted on the bulkhead inline with the inlet manifold. It has an electrical connector and 2 hoses which run to each side of the DPF so it can measure the pressure drop across it.
First I checked the electrical connection and blew through the two hoses toward the DPF to be sure they were clear, erased the fault code and went for a drive. The light was back after about 5 miles with the same code logged.
Not much else to be done other than change the sensor so picked one up from the steal er.
    Part number....076 906 051 A
Price was £44.07 plus the cooking fat.
Changing is straightforward enough, remove the electrical connection, remove the one nut securing it in place which allows you some movement to enable you to get better access to release hose clips with a pair of pliers. I found the hoses came off easier by prising them down carefully with a screwdriver rather than pulling on them.
A test drive after clearing the fault code and Mil again confirmed that all was now good to go.

Edit.... Although I didn't do it and had no further problems, it has been pointed out that the new G450 should be adapted. A search found this account of the procedure with VCDS.....

Cheers, Hopefully it will save some the daft cost of dealer diagnostics/labour.

I've rescanned and there are no codes present now so it should be fine.

    Hi C4a5er ,
Thank you very much for write up ...

I was wondering if you can put into words the VCDS procedure you did as the google translation in that link on briskoda.net seems to be causing confusion to me and perhaps others I'm linking it to ...
