    Hi guys,

I have just been offered a new job to start in June. Looks like my B6 will be going. I have a friend who would love it. And has said if I decide to sell he will snap my hand off.

I have been looking on the Auto Trader and they still seem to be holding there price very well .

Not sure If I should opt out off the company car and take the cash. Keep my B6.

Or lease a brand new car off my own back. Any help or advise guys?

    Rappy.

I'd smell the ppl out first, make sure the job is ok etc, then maybe look at ordering a B7 DSG Sport, 44mpg urban Rappy.

I'm torn, I really am. I love the B6 ticks all the boxes. Its a great car !!!! I just get very attached to my own cars and with mine being black I'm forever cleaning it to make it look its best.

I know the usual B6 gripes. But mine has been great so far touch wood.

With a company car I will have zero emotion attached to it. But pocketing the cash sounds great!!! Hence my dilemma.

no no. What I mean is - If you've got the option not to have a company car, but be awarded an allowance instead for a private lease. Why can you not take that option but pocket the cash instead of leasing another car.

You get to keep the B6 and the extra ££?

I can relate to getting attached to cars

I know what i would do............

Chop in the B6 and get a 140 manual the BIK tax bill is peanuts because its only 119g/km emmissions. Caution with the 170 DSG the tax bill is miles more than the 140 manual. I made the mistake of having a 140 dsg B6 last time, emmissions 172g/km the bill on that one was huge.

Although fuel allowance (tax free) has risen to 45p mile now for the first 25K. So you can make a small fortune if you do lots of business miles.

You just have to remember wear and tear, tires, servicing, unexpected break downs etc etc, with a company car all these worries just fade away into insignificance.

You still become attached to the car it is yours for three years or so.

    Decisions decisions.......................

I will be doing around 15-20k per year. I was really considering a dsg again. But the tax band will play a big part. What do you have saloon or estate?

    2.0 TDI 140 (6MT) SE BMT Saloon - 13% BIK (my choice)

    170 DSG - 19% BIK even the 140 DSG carries a 19% BIK bill.

Now i missed this when i ordered but the 170 manual is only 13%.......

You save quite a few quid by staying under 120g/km. The 1.6 TDI doesnt drop you into another lower bracket either thats 13% so no point, however i think when the true blue motion comes out it will only be 109g/km which then drops to a lower bracket 10% BIK i think.

For the company Car Dweller the 2.0 TDI Manual 140 or 170 has to be model of choice. SE / Sport doesnt matter thats personal choice, although the higher the list price the more you end up paying. possible cost you about £200 more over the year to have a 170 sport manual over an se 140 manual.

Even the fuel card bill is a lot less due to emmissions of new car.
