    Hello,
    I've just purchased a 2006 AUDI A4 2.0T FSI Quattro S Line Special Edition
It came with winter tyres fitted and I phoned my local AUDI garage to see if the correct size has been fitted - 235/40/18 and they said that they would call me back and I'm still waiting for the call.

Can somebody please confirm if this is the correct size and speed rating?

What make would you recommend for Summer tyres (bearing in mind I live in Scotland and it mostly rains )?

    Cheers,
    Gav

    That's the correct size.
Typically for tyres that size the rating is W, Y or Z. All are ok.

    And welcome to the forum

Recommendations?? ask 10 members and you could get 10 differetn recommendations.
It's generally down to personal preference and budget.
I've had Avons and found them to be fine. I'm currently on Kumho and they're ok too.

    Incidentally....quality choice of car....identical model to mine.....should try getting a remap....awesome!!!

Gav 235/40/R18 are the correct size for the wheels on the A4.

With the new ones probably best to go for an XL load rating too (which may be standard at this size anyway)

You can keep the winter tyres on though if you wish- they'll just wear out quicker as they warm up quicker compared to summer rubber compound. Reminds me I have to put my summer wheels back on soon as it is 21+ degrees here in Norfolk

I've run Dunlop Sportmaxx TT and Continental Sport Contact 3 which have both been good- I may go Michelin next time as we get a good discount through work with ATS Euromaster.

    Thanks for the help

It say's in the manual that you use 10% more fuel if you run it with Winter tyres so it's worth changing them for this.

Not sure if Audi recommend running winter tyres at a lower psi but I have noticed no change in fuel economy whatsoever running the Conti Winter Contacts, as proven using spritmonitor mpg tracker.
