Having just sold my 55 plate s-line avant [this had a full size alloy spare]now looking for the same car but 09 plate the audi dealer showed me a suitable model but i was pussled by his answer to a certain question regarding a puncture. On fitting a spacesaver and having a full luggage area the spare wont fit back into the car he suggested calling the rac to take it home for me?? has anyone had a problem with a puncture

Another space saver fail- am I correct in saying the full size punctured tyre won't fit back in the boot. That's useful isn't it- space savers are cack, can only do 50mph and look stupid, why they don't just stick to full size wheels I don't know, I mean what space are they trying to save as they are stored beneath the load liner anyway.

That's why you need an A6 No spacesavers in sight!

However, the A4 courtesy car I had had a spacesaver and it was absolutely rubbish! I took it out to look at it and it had the skinniest tyre ever and yellow labels all over it and there was certainly no room for the 19" rim in the wheel well so I'd guess the damaged wheel would be placed in the boot. Suppose a spacesaver is better than a can of repair foam stuff!

I assume so. The saloon does anyway so with the Avants bigger boot then it probably does. I'll check on Audis website later for you

    Edit - yes it does

Think yourself lucky, I am awaiting delivery of an A4 Allroad and this doesn't even have a proper spare wheel and the option of having a full size replacement alloy just doesn't exist.

I would love to have the option of a space saver, let alone a full sized alloy.

A4 Allroad heated, powered seats in Alcantara with leather armrests, metallic paint, privacy glass, high beam assist, xenon & adaptive lights, sound pack with tech pack high and phone prep low, tyre pressure monitor, power tailgate, keyless ignition, folding and dimming mirrors, lighting pack and parking advanced.

So the Allroad which by definition is more likely to have a tyre fail due to cut sidewalls etc doesn't even get a spacesaver?

    That's cunning !

Then again will any Allroad ever see more mud than an Avant?

    Gone : 09 A4 Avant, B6 S4, TT, Golf GTi...and the rest are embarassing!

Ahhhh, well where I live most people have a 4x4 so that tells you something and I didn't want a big ugly thing (I can't afford to run one ) and the Q5 is to girly for me.

What the Allroad has is rim, bit of rubber and a can of gunge and you do your own put it together and rebuild the car. The list price of my car is just short of £40k and I have bought 3 properties for less!

All this and they want, indeed expect me to mess around putting a wheel together

I gave up trying to change a wheel on an Audi a long time ago and now just call Audi help and they always seem to get there before I hang up .

I think I may just have to ditch the silly thing and hitch a ride from a recovery truck telling all that see it "don't buy an Audi, they break down"!

The Allroad is a great car, but Audi always have to spoil a great car somewhere.

Real 4x4s have a spare wheel bolted to the back door or on the bonnet
