    Hello people, first thread.

I have a 2007 Audi A4 S-line with a concert single Din stereo and large climate conttol unit. Is there something that can be done so that I can upgrade to the double Din RNS-E?

I have done a few searches on the forum and Google but couldnt find any relevant answers.

    many thanks in advance,

    Jon.

Yes you can fit the RNS-E.

Its been done lots of times. Easy and straightforward.

You need a RNS-E, Double DIN cage, wiring and antenna adapters, Climate control unit (or you can trim down your exisiting one) and a GPS aerial. Reckon on 2-3 hours to fit the lot if you are taking your time.

You'll also need access to VAGCOM/VCDS to code it all for full functionality.

Had a read of the PDF that was in the link provided.

I'm assuming that it would be possible to fit any double din unit using the same method?

And I've also read several comments in various threads about having to trim the climate control unit, however in the guide provided ( http://www.pvv.org/~shane/stasj/pics...%20an%20A4.pdf ) It only mentions trimming down part of the ashtray, does this mean the climate control unit stays untouched and im guessing is moved down in the space below?

    Thanks

    Jon

Yes to a point, however aftermarket DD units from Alpine, Pioneer etc are not the same shape as the RNS-E hence you will need another fascia adapter to make it look decent.

No, the climate unit does NOT stay untouched. The guide in the PDF you linked uses a new climate unit (specifically a DD climate unit) they are different shapes.

If you wish to use your climate unit in a DD installation then you will need to trim a few mm from each end of it.

My intentions are to fit an RNS-4 from CVUK so that that shouldnt be a problem.

And thank you, I now realise there are differances in climate contol units, from looking at pictures I thought they were the same! oops!
