    Hi,

I've just a 4 out of 6 things fitted by oemretrofits in Bradford on my A4 B7.

    MSFW
    RNS-E
    DIS
    Cruise Control

    They did a fantastic job.

I also attempted to get SDS and OEM bluetooth fitted, but unfortunately couldn't get these working.

I've tried two genuine audi microphones hoping the SDS would work, but all I get is 'pardon'

The guys from oemretrofits claim that the RNS-E is coded correctly, and as the RNS-E appears to be working from the steering wheel button, I think it is enabled, but still no response.

They tried changing the + and - connectors on the mic, and confirmed that the mic lead is fine.

The mic cabling to the RNS-E was removed from the Kufatec Bluetooth loom (more on that later), and I wondered if the cable wasn't up to the job?

They have offered to change the RNS-E unit for another, but I'm not keen to go all the way to Bradford again.

Any ideas what else I can check?

The Bluetooth unit, which I picked up from ebay is a revision D OEM module and was connected up, with the mic routed correctly, as far I could tell. The guys at oemretro claim that the CAN Bus was not seeing the module. They have had this on a test bed, but claim it's not working. They mentioned that it may be because it was originally from an A3, and there may be differences fitting it to an A4?

I have seen in VAG-COM there are various settings for Bluetooth, including an option to switch on bluetooth broadcasting, but all I saw when they were attempting to code the unit, was that it would not appear under 77 - Telephone

Is anyone able to offer any assistance? I'm up in South Shields, near Newcastle upon Tyne.

I'm not really wanting to go all the way to Bradford again, without looking to find a solution, or at least know a little more about what needs to be checked.

    Cheers, Lee

include the label files saving time digging them out and also the software version of the rnse unit and part number

does the sat nav give speech instructions

can you dial out using mfsw

can you hear the phone ring tone

    Hi A8,

Just how 'up north' are you? Anywhere near South Shields, that i could pay you a visit?

Can you help me out with the VAG-COM stuff ? I believe my mates garage has one, but I'm not that keen on asking him for a loan of it, in case I break it. It's one of the dedicated machines, that doesn't require a PC.

The SatNav works with speech instructions.

When I press the speech button on the MSFW, it beeps, but does not recognise audio input. Eventually, I hear pardon, then the help options are spoken.

The bluetooth module is no longer connected, and still with oemretrofits. I'm having that sent back up.

    Cheers, Lee

You need to take a break from all that clunge inspecting.

This will take your mind off it for a while...

    Hi A8,

What are your currentl clunge levels like?

I've been down to my mates garage and his unit is a Tecnotest Reflex 3120. I think this is nothing more than a glorified fault reset tool.

A garage across the road want £46 for what they call a basic diagnostic. He had a mask on, and his mate was wearing a ten gallon hat, so I steered clear.

As far as SDS is concerned, I believe I may know what is causing it not to work. When the OEMretro boys removed the Bluetooth kit, I don't recall them resetting the RNS-E coding.

Checking the Rosstech site for Address 56 it recommends that if a Bluetooth kit is not fitted then 0xxx?xx should be set to 0. This supplies voltage to the mic. I'd hazard a guess that that is still set to 5 for Telematic Europa (Remove Feed Voltage for Microphone inactive)

Are you near enough that I could call over, and pay you to check/amend this code?

The Bluetooth kit is a different kettle of fish. They are posting that back up to me, and I will try and get that sorted later.

If you aren't able to help with the VAG-COM, is there a very basic unit available for purchase that will allow me to amend these codes? I realise I'm setting myself up to be shot down in flames...

If that garage charge £46 just for a basic diagnostic, and I plan to keep the car for at least 10 years, I'm guessing I could do with a VAG-COM or equivalent.

    Cheers, Lee

    Hi A8,

I'm now able to pi$$ with the big boys now, and am now a VAG-COM owner.

As there is no Bluetooth module fitted currently, I just want to get SDS working. The Audi Mic has been wired to the rear of the RNS-E (which they confirmed should be fine). Looking at the error list, that looks like it may be incorrect, but that could well be an old error?

    I have tried the following

    Module 37/56 Navigation
    0301715 changed to 0301115

    Module 16, Steering Wheel
    Was 04041 changed to 05041

Quite a few errors, but wondering if I should clear these, and see what is still showing now. Would you recommend that?

Here are the modules requested and a few others:-

    Hi,
Just cleared all the faults, and this is the only one that reappears:-

02454 - Microphone Unit (in Front Roof Module) (R164)
    011 - Open Circuit - Intermittent
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 00101011
    Fault Priority: 5
    Fault Frequency: 1
    Reset counter: 135
    Time Indication: 0
    Date: 2011.04.12
    Time: 18:56:23

The time is the current time, so appears straight away.

Does it look like the polarity may be reversed, or something else?

    Cheers, Lee
