I had a call from them today about my form too. Looks like they are pressing Audi for a resolution, fingers crossed Audi do something about it.

Let's all hope this results in a recall. Somehow doubt it though. I'm sure Audi/VAG will wriggle out of it somehow.

So does running out of fuel, it gives the same result and happens to hundreds of people each day, unlike injector failure…

This from a driver it happened to recently .........

our 2007, 24000 mile tdi 170 has just quite with almost a disaster. lost all power with little brakes/steering and narrowly avoided schoolkids and a shop on a downhill bend

The difference being of course that the driver has full control whether he/she runs out of fuel or not. Most cars I have ever seen have a fuel guage that gives you plenty of warning of running out of motion lotion. This is of course nothing to do with the manufacturer, and some could argue that it's your own fault if you run out.
When Audi fit a guage that tells you of imminent injector failure, then I will accept your arguement.

In MY opinion, although most will not agree, a car conking out is not necessarily always dangerous and if all cars were recalled for common failures that could cause them to break down, then the dealers would be swamped with cars having parts changed and the manufacturers and external suppliers (such as Siemens with the dodgy injectors) would go bust quite soon or cars would have to become prohibitively expensive for what they are. No I do not work for Audi, I am an independent VAG specialist but also a realist, cars cannot be guaranteed forever, the manufactures would go bust, like Daewoo did with their long warranties. Anyway, we are never going to agree on this so this is my last word on the subject.

Audi cars were fine until they messed around with the injectors & harnesses in 2006 on the 2.0L.If its not broke don't try to fix it.

Although since owning my 2.0tdi 170 none of my injectors have failed (YET!)

The scale of this known problem is worrying me, it IS a safety issue and the way audi is dealing with it or not is arrogant and dangerous.

I've just submitted a complaint to watchdog, as I know others have and if I can find the correct email address I'll do the same to VOSA, can't submit a form as I've not experienced the problem.

Perhaps if everyone who had had an injector failure or 4 on this model all descended on the same dealership, at the same time one sunny morning, to peacefully express their concern they would have to admit the fault, especially if a national news crew just happened to be passing at the time.

Ah well, Just a thought, lets hope VOSA kick them into touch.

Running out of fuel is something you have total control over and if you run out then there is no sympothy from me you have a gauge and a warning light unlike an injector failing without warning you my friend have obviosly not had the experiance.
170 bhp s line bose, cruise control, pdc, mfsw, flawless glossy black, Now hopefully reliable with it's new injectors
