    Default Thermostat? – 04-04-2011,07:03 PM
    Hello there

    s3 2002, had the thermostat, waterpump and cambelt replaced a month ago

    now the thermostat is being dodgy, sometimes it wasnt reading anything and now its not working it just stays at 00 instead of 90

    any ideas? surely the garage should fix the shoddy work

    the car is not overheating and there are no warning lights

    The thermostat only determines whether or not the coolant in the engine needs to circulate round the radiator to cool down - it doesn't have anything to do with the dial on the dash. I think that shows the temperature as per the coolant temperature sender. Maybe the CTS needs replacing, or perhaps it wasn't connected up properly after the work you had done.
