Evening all ,I have just bought another 80 coupe 2.6 v6 ABC on the N 1995.
The first thing I need to sort is a petrol leak under the back end of the car.
Running pretty much the full length of the underside on the offside of the car are three metal pipes which lead toward the petrol filter can.
It's not very easy to determine if the leak is on one or two or all three pipes as it just keeps dribbling from what looks like a carrier block with a rubber mount, which is situated within 12 inches from the filter.
What I'm wonderring is where do these pipes originate and terminate, how simple are they to change and approximately how much will they cost and from where is the best place to buy them?
I'm more than capable of doing most things,. but as I'm totally knackered and now cleaned up I can't be naffed to examine further today, so I thought I might pick your collective brains
The car is not " on the road " as the MOT has expired but obviously as a must for safety reasons this issue requires prompt action
    Many thanks in anticipation

It is going to be the return that is leaking (I think a leak in feed would spray fuel with the engine running) and the other is the carbon canister breather pipe and that won’t drop fuel. If it is the feed you should not contemplate splicing in a flexi section as it could blow off and splicing in a flexi on the return could cause the feed to snap anyway due to corrosion. The lines come as individual pipes and if I remember rightly come up the back of the rack and are a sod to do but t is years since I did any. The feed is 895 201 545 A and the return 895 201 547 N and both are around £95 and only available from Audi as far as I know and may even b on back order. The breather line is 895 201 991 J and about £75.

Hello Steve and thanks for the speedy response.
While we are on here and not outside in the dark would you have a picture of the pipes indicating which is which in relation to the position from the outside edge of the car.
The previous owner said he believed the leak was coming from the "low pressure return", so your opinion tallies with his.
Would you recommend changing both the feed and return as they are probably in similar condition or just go with the dud one and do I read you rightly in that a hose intervention would not necessarily be an appropriate solution.
Many thanks for the part numbers and advice

    Stuart

PS; Does it follow that the fuel is still dribbling for a good time after the car has been switched off?
At the moment the rear of the car is up on ramps ,would gravity cause the leakage to continue after shut down , if so I'll turn it so the front is raised untill a repair is sorted
    Thanks once again

A spliced in repair would be acceptable on the return but not on the feed, the pressure is too high. It is so long since I did the pipes on that platform that I could not possibly remember which one is which from memory but a trace is easy, if it flows on from the filter it is the pressure line, if it goes back to the tank it is return or vent.

If you would consider running flexible tubing the full length, I expect you could find something in the Pirtek range. As a bonus would be a lot easier than trying to manipulate those hardlines.
I have heard of stainless steel microbore (central heating) pipe being used. On the face of it this would involve splicing in, but if suitable fittings could be sourced, you could use a pipe flaring tool to tie it all in properly.

    UPDATE...UPDATE...UPDATE...
High all, all done and sealed on Thursday evening and caused another leak at the next clamp.
This morning I ripped the lot out and started again, nice and neat, jobs a good 'un
    Cost at Audi
    Feed-£118
    Return-£118
    Breather-£109
Located suitable flexi pipe at work, assisted by our fitter, cost at fourringsrus driveway,...£8, just for a couple or suitable clips( box of 20 ) a couple of hours twisting and snorting underneath the beast and I reckon using Audi rates and labour costs I have potentially saved around £500

Just like the say thanks again to scotty33 and crasher for their advice and willingness to help
    Cheers guys

Almost time, while running the beast up to be sure the leak was cured the main radiator decided it didn't want to play ball anymore and duly commenced dripping coolant onto my freshly powerwashed driveway.
It would appear that the previous owner gave the front end a pop and has forced the oil cooler backwards into the main rad and a leak seems to be where the core is fixed to the end section.
Do you know if the v6 rad is any different to the 4 and 5 cylinder cars or if I could utilise any other than the six
