Without wishing to be rude, you might try posting this in the A4 forum as I believe it covers the model you are looking at

As long as its a decent colour and mechanically sound buy it anyway, stuff the MPG and spec, all Audis rock and never have faults

Oil pump strainer blockage, the single biggest killer of this engine.

Ive heard a mixture of 32-36 combined mpg and up to 42mpg on a run are these figures realistic?

Also its a Black on Black leather/alacantara(sp?)interior, 2003 1.8 T Sport,(160ish?bhp) 89K, lady owner, f/audi/sh, cambelt/waterpump replaced. I've seen golfs with 160+k on them still pulling like a trooper, and I take it is the same engine, just mounted differently?

Few little marks on the paint, she scratched it and had it resprayed and it just needs rebuffing properly by the looks of it. Started from cold no knocks, no smoke, and dosnt even sound as "ticky" as other 1.8t's ive heard. Severly tempted as its cheaper to insure than my passat! Just worried it is going to absolutley drink (when im pootling to work and back, not fussed if i press the loud pedal, the passat drinks diesel when i do that anyway)

Any help is always appreciated as Im going back to see it tommorow.

    Hi
    there not bad on fuel
    i have a customer who averages 34mpg
    generally they float around 28-36Mpg
as for service history make sure its on Non Longlife servicing
as the oil pickup problems generally start because of longlife service schedules
if it has been on longlife schedules and you do buy it you should really drop the sump renew the pickup filter and change the oil regular say 6-8k
its worth noting that taking the sump off requires the removal of the subframe but its not a massive job
