    57 MY A4 Cab.

    Hi,
Got a slight problem with my roof: Opens at front a few inches then stops (roof fault light flashes) if I close it down and re-attempt to open it usually works ok.
This happens every time I try to open the roof (except when it has been recently opened, say within a few hours)
Anyone know if there is an oil reservoir (if so where?) or where the position sensors are located ?

    many thanks in advance, Malo

Try using the emergency key to fold the roof all the way down, lock the rear panel down and then fold the roof back up, then try running it again. If this fails you will need a code read. I have one coming in tomorrow that does something similar but no warning light or fault codes. I have ordered a new pump motor for it as the pump will not run with power directly applied. The pump and reservoir are located under the floor level in the boot tucked away down in the right hand rear corner, a right sod to get at.

I know this is an old thread but just in case it helps anyone else I had a similar fault and had it cured by having the hydraulic pump motor overhauled. This was by Autoelectron via Ebay:
    http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/autoelectron
The service was excellent, very helpful on the phone and very quick turnaround. Total cost less than £100 vs. £1500 quoted by Audi.

Audi misquoted you, the motor is only £200 and there is no way on Gods earth they overhauled the pump complete unit for <£100, that only just buys you a motor re-brush...

Apparently, Audi only supply the complete motor and pump assembly and with fitting they quoted me £1500. I only had the motor done, maybe "overhaul" is the wrong terminology but it worked in my case and just trying to help anyone else.

The three I have bought in the last year must have been in my imagination....

Item 2, part number 8H0 959 755 A £203.41 inc. VAT from any Audi dealer, fits all Audi A4 cabriolet 2003>2009.

The pump itself is not available as a spare part.

Well, I can assure you that the £1500 quote from Audi was not my imagination. OK, it may not be comparing like with like but at the end of the day, I just wanted my roof fixed and that is what they wanted to do it.

Just trying to provide the information in case it helps anyone else is in a similar predicament and give credit where it is due.
