rear lights not working on driver side (mk4 estate)

My rear lights on the driver side have stopped working - I can't find a fuse diagram but would be surprised if they had their own circuit - but hopefully i'm wrong.

Brake lights, reverse & indicators are ok.

I took the light unit out and tried it on the nearside - all lights worked perfectly so i know the unit is ok.

Can anyone tell me which fuses to check - or any other suggestions to why they might not be working?

to answer my own question....

The fuse labelled as a parking light (in the owners manual & on the card in the fuse box) is also the fuse for the side lights - so an easy fix in the end.
Very unhelpful of VW I think
