2.5 TDI AUTO QUATTRO - vibration

    Hi there,hope someone can help.

I have a 2003 2.5 TDI quattro, auto box, and its the 180bhp model.

Just recently I have noticed that the car is vibrating a fair bit when the car is in drive. I first noticed that when the car is at a standstill there was a huge difference between neutral and drive, and its now noticeable when moving, especially when going uphill, before the car decides to change down a gear. In fact, when travelling at 40 on a flat bit of road, you only need to lightly touch the power and you can feel it, as can any passengers, even if you don't even apply enough power to make a difference to the speed. You can feel it through your seat, steering wheel, just about everywhere.

I had it on a ramp at an Audi specialist a week ago, and he confirmed that all the engine mounts etc were sound, although he did point out there is some play in the passenger side inner CV joint, but not worth worrying about that yet.

The car is at 100k, and has been pretty much trouble-free. I even had it plugged into vag-com a couple of weeks ago and it didn't flag up anything serious.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Any other questions feel free to ask,

    Sean

If you are saying that this occurs when you engage drive at standstill and is has suddenly happened then it seems like it must be related to the gearbox or drivetrain .The triptonic box is strong but I would get an expert asap

If your lucky, it could be the rubber mounted couplings
on the drive-shaft. From memory, you have to remove part
of the exhaust and a heat shield to inspect them.

    Regards
