Just taken a 2001 Passat TDI Sport estate for a test drive, all seems very good for it's age and mileage (150K) but the guy said he has recently had some work done to the brakes. They work fine but the pedal sits very (to my mind) high off the floor.

When I sat in the sar and adjusted the seat to allow me comfotable use of the accelerator and clutch pedal when going for the brakes I initially coaught my foot on the side of the brake pedal and to actually use the brakes was an exagerated lift of my foot onto it. Can this setting be adjusted or does somethung sound wrong??

The pedal has an upper stop, not adjustable, so this should not happen. What work did he say was done. Regards Peter

If he had a new servo/master cylinder it could have neen that they have not notted the position of the threaded rod on refitting hence the high pedal...

Yep that will be the problem if the servo has been changed. The length should be 173.2 mm ± 0.5 mm but always measure when you remove the old one. Regards Peter
