So having changed from Nokia to an HTC desire I'd given up on my premium (rSAP) bluetooth working.

However it seems a clever bloke in Germany has cracked the issue and is currently testing http://www.android-rsap.com/ which seems to work perfectly for me.

You have to "root" your phone but it wasn't too scary and hasn't made any difference to the functionality.

He's got a little way to go on the interface, etc and it's not very pretty but it does the job and he'll get there with the easy stuff.

Now I can have the modern phone with all the benefits of rSAP so very pleased!

@mrchiggles: I saw your posting and it seems that you were having a similar problem that my wife has with her HTC Desire and Jaguar XF losing connection every so often..

I had a look at the link and, not being a technical sort of chap, it all seems over my head. Is it possible to get instructions for retards like me?

I don't know what I need to do with what!

The link relates specifically to the rSAP related bluetooth kits, doesn't look like the Jag has that kit so not sure it'll help you!

It might be worth a try! What I want to know is whether the updates need to be made to the phone or the car.

I also realise this is off the topic of VWs. However, we asked the Jaguar dealer if they had a fix and they didn't know of one.
My old Nokia phone stays connected to the XF, the HTC loses connection.
They both use Orange so I suspect the HTC Desire is the culprit.

Any help from anyone would be appreciated.

    Hi,
thanks for this excellent advice, but now I'm unsure what is the best way to go!
Having had my new B7 Passat for only a week now, I'm struggling with the Bluetooth connection for my HTC Desire Android phone.

I'm reluctant to root the phone as it's a work contract mobile and that could cause issues later ...

Additionally though, I use the SatNav built into the phone almost daily and am now wondering whether rSAP would remove this functionality if I did get it to work properly?
Am I right in thinking after reading these posts, that when rSAP is working, there is no access to the handset or any of the apps while it is working through the car system?

If that is the case, I'm wondering what the best solution is ...
    * root the phone to use rSAP & lose the excellent free Google Android SatNav
    * get a duplicate sim (if possible) and put that into a cheap old Nokia in the car (but would I still be able to use the HTC & SatNav during journeys?)
    * binning the HTC isn't really an option as it is a work phone and I do like the SatNav app (in case you hadn't guessed!)

Any advice or responses to my questions would be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Paul

There does seem to be some movement on this with the 9W7 kit in VW's.....................

Look at the screen of the phone when it has just connected, a pop up will appear for a few seconds, like 'requesting access to phone book' quickly check allow and allow always on this and all should then run without issue.

Similar issues when connecting some blackberry phones - it is the phone not the car................
