Remote on both my keys has stopped working??

Hi All

Searched for similar topics but couldn't find anything

I keep one set of my keys locked away and use the other set always. the set I use stopped being able to remotely open the central locking, but could open the door manually and start the car. I changed the battery but this had no effect. I then took out my other set and they did not work either. When I press the unlock button a red light flashes on both the key fobs and nothing happens with the car.

Been searching for a day or two and found guides to program keys by putting one in the ignition and lock the door with the other key, but this does nothing. think its for older models.

Has anyone got any ideas how to fix this problem without it costing the earth.

It takes 2 mins to recode the remotes with the dealer diagnostic tool (or vagcom).
Try and stop by your local VW dealer and put your head in the w/shop door and ask one of the techs to do it for you and slip him some beer money. Techs will do just about anything for a beer.

Or tell us your location and perhaps someone in your area can do it with their vagcom lead. People with vagcom like to show it off and they'll probably do it for beer money too..or perhaps for free (if you show them how impressed you are with their tool).

Thanks so much for the reply, didn't realise I havent been on the site for such a long time.

Had to buy new keys and a part for the car?? then they got one of my old keys working so I now have three. They were most probably feeding me BS.
