Didn't like the Conti's.? May I enquire as to why? ..and what 'budgets' do you have out of interest?
The continental tyres were spent 12 months from when they were fitted. They were the pair the council paid for following the pot hole incident. The wear was not helped in part for 2 reasons, my right foot and the twisty adverse cambre road I drive to and from work each day. Therefore I came to the conclusion that spending £320 on two tyres was a waste of money, so I spent £104 on two tyres and £20 to have them fitted.

I think they are called 'sunny' i'll find a link later.

    Strange one.
    38psi is defintely not "low".
Mine run at around 36psi but I'm on a different tyre size.
I have seen some posters on here running as high as 42psi....at first glance I can't help thinking that's too high....but they seem to get even wear.

I know I thought 38 was high, but I too have seen some say that they run 42. I'll see how the Ultracs go at 38 and if they start to wear too much at the edge then I will up the pressure.

btw, do you have a flickr site? I am also a keen photographer although I havent had much opportunity of taking shots of cars yet...

I bought two of these when I first got my car as the fronts needed changed. I must say, what a dissapointment. They spent all of their time on the motorway and lasted all of 12k.

I've now replaced all 4 tyres with Michelin Pilot Sports and with the price they were I hope they last longer than 12k.

Having just had two Goodyear F1 Asymmetric's fitted on the fronts the last two post are not what I want to hear.....!!!

I have a mix of approx 50/50 motorway and urban driving so I'll have to see how these last.

Same here James - I searched the forum and net extensively before deciding on these, had them fitted on the back yesterday, now I find out they could only last 11k!!!

Never mind I suppose, we don't do that many miles a year so it shouldn't hurt too much. Haven't tested them out properly yet either.

BTW - got the 2 for 330 quid.

    Mike.

I got mine for 338, so not a bad price!
Thankfully I only do about 10-12k a year and not having a quattro I only need to replace 2 at a time

The improvement over a pair of very worn Conti's was very noticeable !!
Interestingly though, the Conti's when worn didn't have that slow speed manoeuvring judder whereas the previous set of Dunlops did...
