What's the deal with tracking on my Audi 80 (1994)?

I've just been quoted £85 by the Audi dealer, as my local tyre places reckon they a)can't do it, and b) don't have the settings.

    What's going on? Anyone?

    John

    Just seems pants!

Maybe I can find an independant audi specialist, rather than the main dealer. I just think it's wrong when car manufacturers design things, just so the customer has to go to the dealer, and pay through the nose, for things that are 'ordinary' on other vehicles. I had a Kia Picanto for 2 years and to change a sidelight bulb, Joe public has to take it to the dealer, or remove the front bumper brackets, then remove the headlight unit!!!

I had the tracking done on my 98 cabriolet the other month, I went to a local tyre garage, back street ( but very good) and an old boy did it I had to leave the car for a couple of hours, he said that they are really tricky to do and a bit of a pain in the bum, they have to be done through the engine bay, but it was all done and for a bargain £20
