    Hi all
I am new owner of A8L (D3 2006) and have just scanned it for faults. it came back with multiple faults for combination comfort databus. I am aware of a fault with driver power electric door closure, but did not expect this amount of faults. Everything else work ok. I understand that maybe just one of the modules might be throwing all of them as they all sit on a bus. Any ideas where to start?

go into address 17 or 19 and check the bus network status, normally mvb 125 you may find the info in the vcds label files
1 = comms ok 0= not ok then scope the dash can wires for to check for open circuit short to +/-
the info points to a defect on the wiring to the dash or the dash itself
vag diagnostics, retrofits and general repairs

What do you mean by scope the dash wires? Physical test with multimeter?

if you access the measured value function in this address then enter block 125 this will show all the bus drives and hopefully show you if the bus coms are down from the dash
to scope would mean to tap into the dash canbus wires and use a oscilloscope to check both high and low signals are present
if only one is present then check the wire for open circuit

because rosstech removed the label files from wiki i cant check the measured values for you

each bus circuit has two wires

    can high and can low

they are a mirror image signal so if one fails it goes into single wire mode to keep the network functioning, there are can nodes which you can tap into to check both signals are present

you can check with a multi meter but you must disconnect the individual circuit for a resistance check if you do not then you will pick resistance up as each consumer has a end stage so you must disconnect to check in the more conventional ohms check

I think i understand the idea of a bus. interesting to find out they are doubled up. I think I it is above my ability to fault find this. you are talking about wiring, wouldn't a module failure cause the same issue? it used to happen in my old days of alarm fault finding (house alarms).
Anyone more experienced in the south to try to tackle this?

yes the dash module could be the cause but as long as one can wire is present then the dash will function
clear the faults and try again in a few days, if there is still a single wire fault then it would be advisable to have it checked out but the funny thing is the faults only started today with low frequency of occurrence

the drivers door has a dash wake up wire, this turns the dash on when you open the door
this may well be related to your power closure issue and can problem

    ok thanks,
fault shows as it have started today following me clearing all the faults. (it was there before as well). I will take the door apart probably next weekend, and check whats going on. I will probably then disconnect the module in the door to check if it would clear the fault.
    Thanks for your help.
