    Hi,

I've a 1.9TDI 130 2002, just bought it, is it normal when you turn off
the ignition to get a Humming noise, like the Engine or Turbo is winding
    down?

    Thanks

    Brendan.

Mine gurgles a bit but doesn't hum.

I've put my gurgle down to the pressure equalising in the aircon system.

A hum would more likely be the viscose fan coming to a stop?

You shouldn't hear the turbo at all. Also with the turbo, don't rev the engine and then switch off striaght away, it'll still be spinning but with no oil getting it which means it'll soon fail. Some sports car peeps even fit turbo timers to their cars which means that the engine will continue running for a few minutes to allow the turbo to stop spinning with oil getting to it. The oil also helps cool it a bit.

However, if you drive it sensibly, you should have no problems.

It could be the Alternator, if it's the type with a clutch. The armature still spins for a couple of secs after the engine stops. Renault lagunas do the same.

It's the viscous cooling fan on the radiator slowing down after you switch off the engine.
