Please help. I currently run a 58 reg highline with factory fit RNS510 Sat nav, which is brilliant. I'm looking at a new company car and have been offered a B7 SE. Can I swap the new stereo for the old Sat Nav? If so, will I lose any functionality eg route instructions in dashboard? Also, is it possible to "unlock" voice control on old system, as it's now a standard feature on new RNS510. Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think your RNS should be a late enough model to allow this no problems.

Plug and Play - should be. but you will need to add a GPS doodaaa, the RNS maynot be compatible with the factory fitted DAB module though. Phone kit should actually be better once RNS installed, MDI will also be better due to screen size (the RCD310 only has one line of text when scrolling through MP3's on Ipod.

I am sure there will be some ICE genius along soon who will give you a definate answer on any coding required.

The RCD/RNS 310/510 are all pretty much interchangable but if you are fitting a 2008 RNS 510 I don't think it will work with DAB but I could be wrong. You will also need to fit the GPS aerial from your current vehicle or get a replacement from ebay.

The only thing I'm unsure off is your 2008 Passat would have had the Red MFD in the dash and from 2010 onwards all Passat's come with the new white clocks, white MFD and new 12 button MFSW. There are a few coding issue's on VCDS that may require changing in which case you may need the help of your dealer, local VAG specialist or friendly forum member.

    Cheers
