Help please i have a mk 4 1.9tdi (engine code ALH ?)which refuses to start have tried all the normal stuff but then noticed that the engine pre heat (glow plug) light was not coming on at all even though its cold -2 last night. relay 103 is getting power but no power to the glow plugs!! I am new to VW but have a good knowledge of diesel engins any help or advice (tricks)would be
great
ps am in rual France and do not have any access to diagnostics

check the connector in plastic trunking behind battery as these can get corrosion in them if washer pipe has been off
also check the base of the relay plate red/white wire on term 74 if no power there then relay plate reqd or wiring mod carried out to bypass

Turned out that relay 109 was duff and not feeding 103 which was also not doing its thing , so between the two it was screwing up the whole thing
both changed and now back too nomal
