This buzzer drives me nuts. I do lots of short trips to move the car due to where we live and because its bonging all the time (as I cant be bothered to belt up for a 30 second job) its having the effect of making me ignore all buzzers - mostly the important "you've left your lights on" buzzer.
It doesn't even cease bonging when in reverse, when legally you are allowed to not have your belt on!

So, whats the easiest way to stop it? Is there an easy short near the seatbelt buckle?

You will need VCDS and see:

    By putting your seatbelt on

I don't think the airbags will deploy unless you have your seatbelt on either.

If these car movements are in a public place or a road deemed to be a highway then the other bonging noise could by the BIB at your door bell to issue a FPN for not wearing a seat belt. Regards Peter

I have found without your seatbelt on you have to press the brake pedal to release the handbrake when setting off forwards (manual car). With your seatbelt on it auto deactivates.

You could just buckle up the seat belt before you get in, then sit down on top of the belt......

Or on eBay for about a fiver you can buy what is in effect the seat belt buckle on it's own, clip it in and hey presto it thinks you have put your seat belt on.

On my A6 it doesn't go off until you exceed 15mph, I assume this is normal ?

You need what was called vagcom now called VCDS - for the a6 it needs to be the can bus version - i have this one - http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/hex-usb+can.html, make sure it has CAN bus, and you need a windows pc to run the software.

An experiment this morning shows that if you get in your car and reverse it without wearing a seatbelt no alarm sounds. If you then drive forwards the alarm sounds for around 90seconds before it automatically stops.

My understanding is that if you remove the option with VCDS, you also lose the flashing signal in the dashboard. There is no way of just removing the chime or adjusting its volume.
