    Hi all,

If I have a glow plug or two that are not performing properly will it always show up as a fault code in the car's computer ?

I ask this as my car has these symptoms but audi said there was no need to check the glow plugs out as there was no error code.

    Thanks

    Mark

They will put up a code if they are faulty. But as with everything electronic these days, it would probably have to fall outside some set parameters for their performance before a code was logged. I take it you have tested the plugs and found 2 which you suspect as faulty? Best way is to measure the current draw for each plug.

I've not tested the plugs - I've just convinced myself that the fault lies with the glow plugs based on the diesels I've had in the past.
I don't really want to take it back to the audi dealer again - last time I ended up with nearly a £500 bill and the problem still not resolved.

Just cold starting - takes a few turns then splutters to life - after that it's fine for the day, the colder it is the longer it takes to start. took it to audi and they said the problem was the egr valve which they replaced but it made no difference. I just think that with the symptoms I told them about the first thing they should have checked were the glow plugs.

just had my car booked in at an Audi specialist (Lion Garage in Leicester).
    My A4 is a 3.0Tdi Quattro on a 55 plate.

A couple of weeks ago, as i accellereated on the motorway, the glow plug light started to flash.

The light stopped flashing after I restarted the engine (after 2 minute ).
The car runs, there are no judders, splutter, miss fires. It just does not accelerate as it used to.

The ECU had no error reported.
Garage has called up to say that they believe it to be the Fuel Line Sensors.

has anyone had an issue like this and what do these cost to replace.

    Many thanks for your help.

    further development on this.

The car has been running good, reduced economy.
    This weekend the issue returrned.

I drove the car for like 20 miles (in total) and now the engine management light has come on.

    Hope its not expensive

Any help would REALLY be appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced.
