Hi, for the last few months i've had a real problem with overheating, its blown one head gasket and after replacing pretty much every component in the cooling system to have no joy and for the water to just boil out the expansion bottle.
    So far it has had:
    New rad,
    New expansion cap,
New water pump (though has been stood for about 2 years since fitted),
    New stat,
    New cylinder head,
If anyone has had the same problem? If so did you manage to sort it, and how?
Seriously considering an engine swap right now

    Thanks

Not sure, there is water coming out the bleed screw for the heater matrix but not as much as it should and there is a lot of air coming out too.

Take off the expansion tank return hose and rev the engine, you should get flow.

Just a thought, but have you renewed the cambelt? And are you certain that you got the dist drive pulley in exactly the right place? Because if it is just one tooth out, it will boil up like you are suggesting.

Not necessarily, my audi started and ran (albeit a bit off) but overheated like mad until I put timing right. Worth checking before major strip down.

How would the timing affect the cooling system? The cambelt has been off a few times and timed with the marks, could it be possible for the marks are out? Just to clarify, my dist you mean distributer right?

If the valve or ignition timing are out either/both can cause it to overheat for various reasons too long winded to go into here.
