I've noticed that my MFD (trip 2) re-sets itself after only 20 hours. The manual indicates that this should occur after 100 hours. Has anyone else found this and is their a way of fixing it?

I can't say that I've noticed a time limit on memory 2 Ian. I reset memory 2 everytime I fill up which is every month so thats more than 100 hours. Where have you read that is resets after 20 hours in the handbook, I haven't read it for a while?

    Keithuk,
The manual says that its re-sets after 100 hrs. In practice everything goes to zero after 20 hrs which is often before I get to refill with petrol.

Surely that's every 100 driving hours, not 100 hours or the MFD would be re-setting every 4 days or so

It's 100 hours or so many miles or so many litres consumption. It is all explained in the manual but I haven't looked recently. I, like Keithuk, zero memory 2 when I fill up to the brim which is usually about once a month.

Strangely though, I bought petrol last Friday, zeroed Memory 2 and then drove the 2 or 3 miles home. When I next used the car a couple of days later I was surprised to see the range on memory 1 as zero and when I flicked into memory 2 everything there was zero too. I am sure and know, really, that memory 2 should have had information of the time, distance and mpg and range of that short journey home unless, of course, I somehow zeroed memory 2 again although I can't see how or when.
Anyway everything seems operation as usual now with accumuations being recorded in memory 2.

    Hmmmmmmmm!

You can advertently clear both memories if you don't notice the number in the top right corner while you hold the OK button down for a couple of seconds.

Precisely and I have been aware of that for the last 6 years or so, with ownership both a MK5 and now a MK6 Gol!!.
However, I am still not quite sure as to what happpened after my petrol re-fill last week and was rather surprised when I started the car the next day and was faced with nothing in memory 2 which I am almost sure I did not reset again after having reset it to zero in the garage's forecourt, as is my habit.
I would have expected to see the 450+ range still there and about 10 minutes 'drive' time and 3miles or so distance. After all you do have to hold down the 'OK' button for at least a second to effect a zero reset.
It may have been a temporary glitch like the several ones I have had, what with the Aircon not always switching in, the loss of power steering/ESP light remaing on after a wash last Autumn and now this memory thing - electronics! pah!

Hi, My first post after long-time lurking. I have the same issue as johnski60, my MFD (midline) resets after 20 hours driving. My previous Mk5 Golf (highline)went 100hrs before re-setting. Thought it was just my car, but it's good to know I'm not alone! Not really too bothered, but would be interested to know if it can be fixed.
