WOW! Was that a typo?? Was it an Audi dealer who you quoted with?? Audi told me that any car with Quattro, renewing or not is £749.

I has bad experience with Warranty Direct, my steering rack failed on my cab last year.

They wanted to send an inspector to look at the part before paying out, which is fine but..

They wanted the part removed from the car, before we could arrange for an inspector to come out (48hours) but the car had to be left with the part removed, waiting for the inspection.

My garage said they couldn't move the car with the rack removed, as it would be dangerous so the car would need to be left on the lift, and therefore wanted to charge for it being out of action.

Warranty Direct refused to pay for this, and refused to budge so I ended up paying for the rack.

Audi sells their warranty directly through them and not through the dealers. Go to www.audiextendedwarranty.co.uk and request your login details from Audi UK. This will give you the option to select what warranty you want etc.

    I'm with the AA
I pay £144 per year and includes breakdown/recovery and in the the car needs some attention as a result of a breakdown, the AA pay upto £500 per repair.

There is a £25 excess payable and is lmited to 4 or 5 claims per year.

I hope this helps add to the confusion

Mine's just turned 4 yrs old so I thought a warranty might be a good idea as I reckon goodwill starts to get iffy at this age.

I've used WD on another car, and they covered the replacement of a rear shock absorber. I now have this in my garage as I managed to source a pair with similar mileage as mine from a car being broken for spares.

I thought I'd also look at WarrantyWise for my A4, and they would fit pairs in the same circumstances, plus they also cover the DPF which WD don't (in fact I had to tell them what it was!). Also WW's wear and tear kicks in earlier if that's relevant.

As I think i'll be changing the car within a few months, I decided on the pay monthly option @ £47.xx/month which includes main dealer repairs upto £155/hr. Think you save 20% if paying for 12 months up front.

They sent me a paper quote based on my first parameters, and changing this mix on their website I couldn't get anywhere close again. So I rang up, and found Dionne to be very helpful and flexible in restructuring the deal. Her analogy of the DPF was "it's like a tea bag" - refreshingly Northern (like me).

Should say, mine's a 170PD Special Edition quattro.
