Question, I have a '06 Passat 2.0T. The check engine light came on. Took the car to the dealership. They said it was the lambda sensor. I changed the sensor. Check engine light came back on. So I changed the diverter valve. Check engine light came back on after 40 miles. Its not the gas cap either. The car runs fine, although there isnt quite as much power as there used to be.

Also, occasionally after I refuel I have a hard time starting the car. Once it starts, it runs fine.....

Coil packs(s) maybe? Have you tried the simple stuff first - new spark plugs, air filter etc?

If you can feel the engine misfiring and sounding rough, together with the engine management light, it could be a coil (they are installed separately in the fsi engine). However, you'd certainly know it when driving as there wouldn't be 'quite as much power' there would be virtually no power!

Pointless guessing. Get a good code read from someone with VCDS.

Had this on mine. It was the EGR valve. A good tech with the right diagnostic kit should be able to tell this straight away.
Its an easy fit, just a couple of bolts and plug it in.
    The part was about £150.
