Recently, when i step into the car in the mornings ive noticed the windows are a bit misty. so i checked over the plenum chamber, this was dry.
only this morning, i noticed under the driver front and some of the rear driver side carpet was completely drenched.
now i am aware that the ccm is on the passenger side, so how does the water get on to the driver side carpets?
how would i go about resolving this?
    Thanks.

Did you check plenum chamber drivers side?.
Also check air con drain pipe isn't draining into the car.
Door seal, especially the armour plate behid the door trim. often leak water after rain.
    Good luck.

I mean where the servo is. The aircon drain runs down the center of the dash board area at the back and goes out through a hole at the bottom. This usually leaves a little pool under the middle of the car when the aircon is on in the summer, assuming the pipe is in the right place. My money is on a door/door seal leak.

My 2002 Passat had water in offside rear passenger carpet from a leaking ECU seal in the plenum chamber that didn't wet the drivers carpet but passed beneath it. It was done under warranty.... as was the pollen filter housing seal and I believe the bonnet cable grommet as it passes through the bulkhead (a common leakage point on various models of Golf too).

All were done in 2004 and have remained dry. New carpets were also fitted. The above leakage points are more common I believe than door seals/door 'card' seals which on my three Passats have all stood up to a combined mileage of 500k+. They are still in the family.

It is still necessary to clear Plenum chamber drain holes at least annually and avoid parking beneath trees if at all possible.

One by one, all of my doors developed leaks.
Try parking the car with the suspect side up on the kerb, and check for leaks. In heavy rain i could sit in the car and see it trickle in over the plastic side trim at the edge of the carpet.(2003 B5.5)

I am not suggesting that the following has any bearing on your problems with your door seal leakage, but having had three children I never allowed them or their friends to slam the car doors, which must have an effect on the door seals life. Slamming doors must be equally detrimental to the electronics/circuit boards within the doors too.

Parking the car 'uphill' certainly increases the possibility of water pouring over the pollen filter itself if the drain holes are partially blocked preventing that sudden downpour from draining away as quickly.

    Hi,

Most likely cause is water getting in through the pollen filter housing. They have a gasket/seal which perishes over time, allowing the water to lterally pour into the car on the passenger side - soaking the front & rear floor.

There was a recall for this see:

My 2002 Passat flooded due to the above, I was told that there was no outstanding recalls on my car so I got a local VW specialist to remove and refit the pollen filter housing.

I managed to prop up the carpets to allow them to dry out (took weeks).

The above issue is well documented on the variuos VW forums. You should deal with it before the water overwhelmes the CCM which is under the front passenger seat.

    Good luck!

Pollen filter housing seal only affects the passenger side front and rear.

Thought the problem was on the drivers side front/rear ?? If so CCM will not be affected.
