Have a look through this section. There aren't many threads with MK5 problems.

I have a mk5 like the one you want. Fantastic car.

    so there is my vote.

mine is the 140 ps (138 bhpsih)

Rapid. Have not done anything and will not be doing anything to it. had 130 out of it. not for long tho (ooops soz)

Massive load space with seats down for the tip

Auto wipers and lights. Mine has the centre armrest and this style armrest looks 100 times better than the MK4 arm rest.

I'll pm you some pics if you like.

yes but dont forget, the mk5 is a newer car, long term issues have yet to rear their ugly heads and trust me, there will be plenty of them

id say which mk you go for depends on your price range, anything up to 10k, mk4, get a nice example of a 130 gt tdi anything from 12>15k, get a mk5, but make sure its been serviced properly and haggle on the price, residuals are strong though.

    couldn't agree more. although i'd say 8k - 10k for the Mk4.

The Mk5s may still be in warranty tho.

    Its good fun looking tho.

    aye...

another thing to bear in mind regarding residuals, get a colour thats popular, otherwise youll pay for it when you come to sell, white, grey and black seem to be the main on mk5's at the moment, not many blues around

blues are only available on early modles. if you want a new blue one nowadays, you'll be driving an R32.

    Silver is also good.
