Been reading up, and there seems to be one or two that work, one is a Laser one and the favorite is a Autel one.

You can't just switch off a fault light. You have to fix the fault. You obviously still have a fault.

Get under the front seats and check the plugs, iirc hoovering can displace them, as you have the tool it shouldn't hurt disconnecting them and then reconnecting them to make a full contact, then put the lights out with the tool, wait until Martin replies again before you do though just incase it can cause issues.

Not at £250 for a lead and a cd, that one is only any good if it's going to get used, too much for simple opps on the car once in a while.

We can do this at work with Texa but having seen the units on the links its the sort of thing that looks easy to use, sort of thing that would be ideal in my tool box may have to look in to them a bit more, save getting the lap top fired up

The thing I'm not sure on is the Adaptation at the end of replacement, this seems to be a calibration thing to set the caliper up, but there's not much info regarding the width you should set it to, it's on page 13-14 in the pdf for the Aut tool.

This is where VCDS is much better than a hand held tool. With VCDS you can see the motor current peak as the motor winds the new pads into place. It is the current peak that tells the epb controller that the brake is full on. Now the controller can calculate how much to unwind to release the epb. As long as a hand held tool measures the current peak correctly. It can reset the epb. Winding the motor back can be done with anything. Getting the motor back to the "set" position is the hard bit.

I'm tossing up either the Autel 201, or the Vscanner Pro, I think Esh has had the pro before, so i'll ask him what it performed like later.
