2007 Audi A6 Allroad

I have just bought a 2007 Audi A6 Allroad and I love it, but I'm wondering about the parking sensors.

What look like sensors appear to be fitted at the front but they don't seem to work. I've tried turning them on according to the handbook with no success. Can anyone tell me if they are definitely fitted to this model and possibly need fixing, or if they just aren't there at all?

They weren't fitted as standard, but you will know what they look like so if they are fitted try and get a VCDS scan to check their status. Possible exception may be a higher spec car then my 3.0 TDI but I can't remember when they killed off the bigger engines.

Does your parking system have the optical view on the mmi when you put it in reverse? If so, what does it show at the front?


You could alway do a manual check and see if there is a wire at the back of one of the sensors!

I should probably say here that I know nothing at all about how cars work, which means I have to ask - what is a VCDS scan and how do I get one?

And my car doesn't have the optical view unfortunately. Perhaps I'm going to have to grope around behind the sensors to find a wire!

How many buttons do you have either side of the hazard button? Maybe take a pic of this area and one of the front bumper??

Hi there. Thanks so much for your advice - it sounds an incredibly useful piece of software and if I was less of a techno-phobe I'd go out and get it, but I'm afraid doing my own diagnosis is way beyond my capabilities! :-(

Hi Chris

I'm posting a pic of my front bumper and the panel containing the hazard button. It looks very blank, with only one button to the far left which says ESP OFF - I think you're going to tell me I have no front sensors!

The only reason I wonder is that I found a review online which said that unusually this car came with front sensors as standard - and of course there seem to be sensors there. It would be incredibly useful to have them. The bonnet's very long and I can't see the end of it!

They're aftermarket sensors so no integration to the car. Factory sensors are flush.

Also, if they were OEM you would have a button with "P" in your dashboard
