Guys, I know there have been discussions on this subject in the past but my memory is, well, bad to be honest, so try again! I have a 2001 TDI 130 Sport Estate, 125k which is a fabulous car. As time has gone on, due to use I guess, the drivers door is now very hit and miss whether it opens first time by using the handle. I understand there are 'wires' within the door which stretch over time, but, being like most people I guess, I wondered whether there is an easy quick fix? If not, what is involved with putting this right. Cheers as always guys.

If you pull the handle open fully and look at the revealed end which was concealed before you pulled the handle, you will see a black plastic thing stuck in a toothed groove. This is the adjustment for the cable.

You need to pup out the black plastic block and re-insert it on a different toot.

To prise it out, you may have to remove the door lock or door lock blank in order to get enough of a view.
