    My passat takes notions to start first time sometimes wen I turn the key the car will start then dieit only happens sometimes anyone any ideas wat it could be

    It's usually an immobiliser problem. Get a fault code read.

    I would only the plug is faulty and the code reader keeps sayin error I have tried different ones and they won't read the codes

    Have you checked the fuse for the diag socket.

    yeah martin the fuse is ok wen i plug code reader in it does wat its supposed to do then wen i try and read codes its says error have tried a few different code readers

    If you have an aftermarket stereo fitted, disconnect it and try again with a code reader.

    did as you said and it let me check for codes and said there was no codes which i dont get as my airbag light is on maybe take it to a mate that has the snap on reader

    Hand held code readers often struggle with airbags. A cheap ebay lead with vag-com 409.1 is better. The snap-on scanner should give you a clue.
