    Hello all,

Been off the forum for ages! but I have come crawling back to get some help. I have a B7 A4 2.0TDI 140 currently and want something with a bit more grunt. Saw a B8 in Slough Audi today and it ticketed every box!

I love my B7 but really wish it had more grunt, Xeons and one or two extras it is missing. This B8 has EVERYTHING. It was £44k new so that shows how many toys!!! Also it is the 2.7TDI which is rather nice after a quick test drive.

My only problem is that it is a 2008 model. The same age as my B7 give or take a month or two. so would not be getting a car any newer or in warranty.

    What would you do?

    Cheers,
    Rusk

More grunt - remap yours? Depending on which 2.0TDI engine you have you're only missing 20 to 50bhp (140/170 vs 190) and 50 to 80 Nm of torques (320/350 vs 400)

I'd imagine the V6 isn't as forgiving on the wallet as the I4 in terms of MPG too.

Xeons - bleugh - HID kits are available online, or you can retrofit the self levellers, washers and OEM xeon lamps

Add up the costs involved in getting your B7 up to the spec of the B8 and see if it's financially viable.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

Remap is an option. That 2.7 was a very nice drive through.

I couldn't retro some of the stuff in this one. It was a Bang & Olufsen sound system for a start

It also has front and rear park sensors and a rear camera which shows where you will end up when steering and also has a parrel park mode. Along with memory heated seats and vented seats option. This was a 3k option apparently. Would be amazing in the summer to have the seat blow cool air up your...well you know

Just looked on the website and that is a seriously well equipped car.

I wouldn't have fancied being the first owner taking the depreciation hit on that one!

What's the upgrade cost from your current car. It looks tempting.

I currently drive a B6 model but have designs on, and driven a couple of, B8's and definitely plan to upgrade in the next couple of years. I believe the mid-life update to the B8 is scheduled for some time next year which should see prices drop on the current B8 shape.

I think it depends how keen you to get your hands on those toys!

I want those toys and that engine! It is a Mutlitronic just like my current B7. By the time I sell this if I go for it it will be 5 maybe 6 years old so will the multitronic still be good at that point or am I look at a large bill to fix it by that age?

I'd say if you can afford it without crippling yourself, DO IT. The engine may not have much more horses, but it is so smooth & effortless. It sounds great too, especially in sport with the right pedal planted! Imagine it remapped!

That spec sounds amazing, you will be smiling from ear to ear for years.

Why not tell them you're keen, to go away and work out their best price, meanwhile letting you have it for a weekend?

Mileage for that age of car isn't too bad. Depends how your looking to purchase the car? Outright or on a pcp agreement?

I know I can't imagine the person that would pay over 40k for an A4

It would be pcp or HA which ever works out best over 2/3 years really.

If your going to do that, you could just order a new one or one thats ex-demo.

I usually take them over 4years to lower the initial deposit, although I trade them in at the 3 yr mark. Depends whats out. Although the interest is really high...but guess someone has gotta have fun with your money, then again your in a car you enjoy

I tried to spec a new one with everything that thing has got and I got to 30K without getting everything on. A new one is not an option Really wish is was.

I love my current A4 but the couple of toys and engine it doesn't have this does. I guess my only problem which is why I posted here was that it is only 6 months newer than my current A4 and if I keep it 3/4 year it will be 6 years old. Guess that would mean I would get very little to it. Bah I can't decide!!!
