cylinder block heater - retrofit possible??

Has anyone given any thought to a cylinder block heater at all??

Ok, so I know it sounds like overkill for our climate, compared to Scandinavia or Canada or the like, but even so...

Here in Glasgow its not that cold, although we did get to -21 where I live a month or so ago and regular temps of -10 and -13 and the like.
I have had quite frequent cold start issues with battery drain symptoms etc and thought about this as a potential for helping the issue.

I'm not sure of the ins and outs of it all but have seen a few posts on my Jag forum about it as a way of being kinder / gentle to the engine during the winter months / better fuel economy and almost instant warm car interior.

Anyone??

Is this mean, you will have plug hanging down from grille?
When I lived in Norway, all cars had plug on bottom of grille, look like kettle on wheels

That would apply to punters who did not do the job properly
